Orlando Coolridge had a dream, and his dream was to create the dopest underground hip hop album Chicago has heard. The man arguably achieved his goal. Coolridge, having an extensive history within Chicago’s hip hop industry, has made a number of talented connections to work and grow with. This lead him to plan out a release, featuring some of the most prolific artists the city has seen. The result brings in a 14 track LP featuring over 2 dozen artists, creating the World Famous Main Event.
Taking over a year to get it all together and complete, the Main Event comes just in time for the summer playlists. A project hip hop fans, especially in Chicago, did not know they needed right now. A one of a kind collaboration that showcases the best of the underground network of Chicago underground hip hop artists. It truly exemplifies the era in music this city has been blessed with. As sudden as the World Famous Main Event arose, it is certain to be a lasting piece of work quietly etched in time as one Chicago’s greatest records.
From old school to the new, this World Famous Main Event got the best of both worlds. The hungriest rappers with the sickest bars, over beats that can match up to the boom bap era of hip hops golden age. Lyrical ability was most certainly the qualifier for the Main Event and the final result did not dissapoint. From Shadowmaster MC, who has hosted Chicago’s longest running freestyle open mic at Subterranean for over two decades. To SamIAm The MC, a freestyle competition winner, who has dominated events on BET, 106 & Park and MTV World Rap Championships amongst others, having been releasing music since the early 2k’s.
Wilhelm Duke makes an appearence as well, a viral internet sensation that shared the stage with Chicago’s own legend Twista, with bars that can match up to him in terms of speed. RhymSter makes noise as well, another impressive freestyle MC that dominated Subterraneans freestyle open mics for years. In turn achieving an award for Ever Evolved with the best Chicago Reader for Best Hip Hop events in Chicago, who also achieved a similar feat bringing together artists on the League Champs album. You will also hear features from M.Whise, CantBuyDeem, MOECYRUS, Safi G, GQ The Fool, Boly Blaise, StankNasty, Jezi, Azmattic, Chops Diggity and more.
