Mikul mentions how Autograf music always changes from the since the start. Starting from a different background of genres, Autograf has no issue pushing the limits of their production. Many of their releases differ from each other in one way or another. Like comparing their singles, Metaphysical, Nobody Knows, Sleepless In NYC, Gravity and Move All Night. One thing remains constant however as Mikul states that they intend to inspire self love and discovery and overall empathy through their music.
This idea even reflects in their name. As Mikul mentions, it is to be meaning to leave your mark, to leave your Autograf, on the world & people around you. This message resonates deeply with with their audience, as they consistenly reach hundreds of thousands, if not multiple millions of streams, easily, for their releases. Just alone, their single Move All Night with SNBRN and KOLE topped 44 million streams on Spotify, and their 2022 hit single Love Runs Deep with Tiina reaches 5.4 million streams.
While they reach those heights, it is important to remember that there is a lot more to come from Autograf! It is not the beginning, however there are many milestones ahead of them and they are clearing them in strides. Since their start in 2015 with Ultra, releasing original singles and remixes, Autograf has just recently cleared a big checkpoint.
Years later in 2020, they have just released their debut album titled The Ace Of You. This timeline alone gives you an idea of the care and attention to detail these artists give to their bodies of work, for their fans. How ever progress is not linear, and Mikul stated, in response to Gratian questions on creative process, that songs do not always come as easily as one or two days, as in the case of Vertigo with Burko & Malou. Some songs take a year or two or even three to perfect. Needless to say, Autograf has more than a handful of unreleased songs waiting to be released out into the public, for a certain project or times they see fit. But one thing for sure is they are ready to make another big move!
Just around the holidays Mikul Wing of Autograf had a moment to sit with Gratian of Ever Evolved’s artist interview podcast, Prolific Profiles. He and touring partner Louis Kha had a date to perform at Sound-bar for their fan base in Chicago, late November. At the time they just released their hit single Vertigo, with Malou and Burko. Since the interveiw the trio had released another single titled Lie, with Your Friend Polly.
During the interview, the two talk about life and music. Origins of Autograf was discussed, from meeting the artists involved, to their idea of the project. Life before Autograf was also mentioned, before the trio was created. Mikul & Luis Kha had already a solid foundation in Chicago under a different alias and genre of music. Earlier in their career they went by the name Midnight Conspiracy, and performed for a fanbas of dubstep and electronic bass. Noting their start with weekly shows in loft spaces and venues like Lincoln Hall, Spybar and House of Blues with events like Girls and Boys and Angels & Kings. That era gave them connetions to headliners like Justice, Crystal Castles and Zeds Dead.
While that time was enjoyable and beneficial in learning the ins and outs of the music industry, Mikul and Louis were looking for a change! Coming from Chicago, the two already a house music in their blood and eventually connected with their third member Jake Carpenter to create Autograf. Mentioning a few of their inspirations for their new sound, like Disclosure amongst others, Autograf has released some bootlegs and started easily gaining traction. Gaining a new fanbase on top of their loyal followers, the trio got connected to Ultra Records, a prominent house music platform, and started releasing music through their label, debuting with Dream.
They have release a couple of project EP’s like Future Soup and Love & Retrograd as well. Clearing those milestones with high numbers of streams with ease. Now Autograf is taking steps toward releasing another big project. During the interview, Mikul reveals that they are in the works on on releasing their second album. This new project will go by the name of Affirmations. The release, although may be subject to change, is expected to be ready for March. So gear up!
Following the interview is an inside look of a live performance and DJ set by Autograf. Their return to Chicago brings their fans to Sound Bar in the River North neighborhood. The dance floor was packed with anticipation for Mikul and Louis to take stage, and when they did, every one erupted in dance and excitement.
