The Free Energy the Duke seems to be referring to, is the freedom and peace of mind that he moves with. As well as that being a gift to the listener, who may hear his lyrics and find some motivation. The underlying message behind here seems to be mental health awareness and self love. Giving a very human quality to his music, compared to most hip hop releases centered around narcissism from other artists particularly in mainstream or influenced by.

“Dont get crucified by hate… just take a ride for some peace of mind. A lot of people might do you dirty, thats okay, dig your toes in. Really feel that pain.” Wilhelm Duke with strong opening verses from the opening track Weight In lbs. He continues in the Chorus with, “Just take a deep breath, cause there’s a way now, I see the sunlight, yea there’s a way out.” Try 2 Hard, the 2nd track on Free Energy, comes in with some heavy bass and a dope hip hop beat pattern. “Try to hard and they hate me now, what they gonna do I wont back down.” The Duke emits more confidence with this track, more perseverence within the message, revealing levels to the healing and strength within! The final track directly titled Persevere, features Ramon Serrano, follows the same energy throughout the track, capping off the EP off on a high note.
