Big Homie, B4 The Smoke

Big Homie is a relatively fresh artist, with releases as early as 2018. Since then he has accumulated an impressive amount of EP‘s, LP‘s and singles. A very lyrical hip hop and rap artist, he got an East Coast flow with a Midwest city attitude, you can tell the city streets run through his veins. Unafraid to test his creativity, Big Homie hints he is ready for another chapter with his music.

After a productive hip hop introduction with 4 LP’s and 3 EP’s, Big Homie releases another full length project to close out that chapter. B4 The Smoke LP is meant to be very significant project for the artist, marking a turning point in his creativity. The Hip Hop & Rap lyricist announces with this drop, he will changing up his style and flow as he continues to evolve as an artist.

Even in the title, B4 The Smoke, it declares bigger changes to come. The beats and verses in this LP are the accumulation of the last of his older material, as well as some new tracks with local artists. The title foreshadows that Big Homie is not only just starting, but he is about to light up. B4 The Smoke signifies the end of an era, and becoming a new, more creative and experimental artist. Big Homie starts fresh with new ideas, new music, nothing recycled or unreleased, following the release of this album.

Put into a 2 part 2 sided LP, the 1st half being represented as more comparable to Detroit hip hop, more raw and rugged. While tracks 9 and after are more experimental jams, and collaborations with Ever Evolved artists and affiliates, like Jai The Artist, Cockykidd, Moonlight, Lazzey B. Floe & RhymSter. The difference is subtle, and it will be interesting to see what he has planned to follow up.

Starting you off with, Okay Cool, a kind of in your face track, Big Homie lets you know he peeps game as he plans n prepares for bigger things. The second track Like That, he lets you know he gets what he wants, by any means! It all starts making sense as you see the following track is titled I Love Shit Talkin’. Big Homie does a vs track with his first feature of the LP with Kev.O, the two boasting their bravado in their verses. He mellows it down with a smoking jam called Wimme, with a down South type beat, you almost expect to hear Curren$y on the next verse.

He finishes of side-A strong with Questions and instantly jumps into a melodic boom bap style beat with CockyKidd. Big Homie and the Kidd easily pick up after eachother, the chemistry is apparent! Moonlight joins the next beat with The Top, this track is more low tempo and moody, with femenine vocals complimenting a low bass and percussion instruments. Lazzey B Floe enters the arena on Who Is This, you can detect change up in Big Homie’s flow. Fast is his most experimental beat so far, with a lot of electro synth in between hip hop beat patterns. If Big Homie continues in this type of direction with his new music, in the latter half of B4 The Smoke, you can expect some huge growth in his talent and journey in music.
